Getting Started

Silver was created to simplify the often frustrating process of managing Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA). Co-founders Dan Somrak and Oded Shekel, both former Microsoft product managers, were motivated to develop Silver after Oded’s wife struggled with insurance paperwork. Recognizing that billions of dollars in FSA funds go unclaimed each year, they saw an opportunity to automate the process and reclaim these funds efficiently.

Choosing FlutterFlow

Somrack chose to build Silver on FlutterFlow so that it could be built and tested rapidly. Within two months of being developed on FlutterFlow, Silver was being tested by friends and family. This phase was crucial for identifying bugs and gathering feedback. Over the next four months, the team refined the user experience, expanded their network of retailers and FSA/HSA providers, and enhanced features.

Building With FlutterFlow

Silver automates the process of claiming FSA/HSA reimbursements:

  • Account Setup and Retailer Selection: Users indicate their FSA or HSA status and select frequently used retailers like Amazon and Walgreens.
  • Receipt Collection via Chrome Extension: Silver scans purchase history to identify eligible medical expenses.
  • Eligibility Identification: Algorithms uncover eligible purchases, often revealing hidden savings.
  • Automated Claim Processing: Silver compiles and submits the necessary claim paperwork automatically.

Silver showcases FlutterFlow’s adaptability in complex app development. The team used custom components and functions, integrating a Chrome Extension that communicated seamlessly with the app. Supabase was also integrated for backend services, ensuring smooth operation.
