Building a SuperApp for 13,000 Employees: FairPrice Group’s Success with FlutterFlow
“By partnering with FlutterFlow, we have been able to quickly turn ideas into products, improving internal processes and enabling rapid custom app development. Our vision is to drive strong usage and engagement with our employee app, and we’re confident that FlutterFlow will help us achieve our digital modernization goals.”
— Miguel Ho, Head of Process Automation, Digital and Technology Team, FairPrice Group
Getting Started
FairPrice Group (FPG), Singapore’s largest retailer, sought a way to simplify and streamline internal processes for its 13,000 employees. The first version of their all-in-one app for employees called MyApp, was developed by an external team of 16 but left FPG with limited control over updates and improvements. To empower employees with easy access to essential services like payslip downloads, claims submissions, and support requests, FPG decided to rebuild MyApp in-house, envisioning it as a “super app” for their diverse workforce.
Choosing FlutterFlow
To make MyApp 2.0 a reality, FPG’s Digital and Technology team chose FlutterFlow, allowing them to quickly build an app with reusable components and internal control over the development process. FPG’s Head of Process Automation saw potential in FlutterFlow's flexible platform and tasked a single developer with no prior experience in Flutter or FlutterFlow for initial exploration and work on the project. This choice enabled FPG to significantly accelerate development and ensure that MyApp 2.0 aligned closely with their internal requirements.
“I have been using FlutterFlow for a year, and it has enabled me to swiftly transition into mobile development, allowing me to independently rebuild and enhance an app that previously required a full team.”
— Ivan Cheow, Senior Full Stack Engineer, FairPrice Group

Improvement in app engagement
With FlutterFlow, Ivan, a senior full stack engineer, rapidly developed MyApp 2.0 within four months to a minimum viable product, building features that made the app more user-friendly and functional:
- Seamless OKTA Authentication: By integrating OKTA, MyApp provides a streamlined login experience, enabling employees to log in securely and easily with options like FaceID. Previously, many front-line employees had no Google Workspace access, limiting their ability to use essential services. This new feature ensures all employees can access MyApp, regardless of their previous access restrictions.
- Flexible Work Arrangement Workflow: To facilitate ease of applying for flexible work arrangement, FPG built a new workflow within Flutterflow, catering to different classifications of employees from full-time to part-time, with intuitive and straightforward interface for both HQ and frontline staff.
- Backend Integration: The team also connected MyApp to FPG’s core backend systems, including SAP and legacy systems, using custom functions to integrate smoothly across internal services.
Value Realized
Since launching MyApp 2.0, FairPrice Group has seen app adoption rate increase by more than 100%, and increased engagement 10-fold as compared to the previous version. With the upcoming OKTA Fastpass and Gen-AI chatbot, employees can now easily access payslips, corporate information, support services, and more, directly from their personal devices, enhancing accessibility and efficiency across the organization.
MyApp 2.0’s success has led other FPG teams to adopt FlutterFlow to accelerate development. The Store Productivity team, for instance, piloted two new web applications for SKU and product approvals in just three weeks and rolled out to production in two months, tripling their development speed vs previous methods. This momentum reflects FlutterFlow’s potential as a powerful tool for ideation, development, and production, accelerating digital transformation in Enterprise.
