Getting Started

In the evolving maritime logistics landscape, the Blue Pass project is a transformative initiative modernizing how maritime companies interact with service providers in the UAE. Developed by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure and Marihub, this project showcases FlutterFlow’s ability to meet tight deadlines and complex requirements.

Blue Pass was created to unify the database of maritime companies and commercial ships in the UAE, connecting marine companies with suppliers efficiently. Launched on May 6th, 2023, the app was developed in just six weeks by a small, skilled team, including Mohamed AboElezz, Growth Product Manager at Marihub, and a designer.

Choosing FlutterFlow

Development started on March 20th, 2023. With a tight deadline, Mohamed opted for FlutterFlow to accelerate the process. The team had six weeks to build the app and website, so Mohamed decided to build it himself using FlutterFlow with the help of a designer.

Building With FlutterFlow

The project required supporting multiple user types with distinct dashboards. Mohamed explained, "It was very easy with FlutterFlow. We created two dashboards, service pages, navigation bars for desktop and mobile, and a separate admin portal."

Another challenge was verifying service deals without manual oversight. The team used FlutterFlow’s barcode scanner widget, allowing ship owners to generate and validate service claim codes.

The main features of the product include:

  1. Authentication & Dashboard View: Three distinct dashboards based on user type.
  2. Service Management: Service providers can manage and track services and offers.
  3. Service Claims and Verification: Ship owners generate and send codes for validation.
  4. Vessel and Deal Linking: Ship owners link vessels to specific deals.
  5. Incentive System: Partners offer incentives through a barcode system.

Value Realized

Since its launch, Blue Pass has engaged over 50 service providers and 30 ship owner/operator companies. Featured in media outlets like Khaleej Times and Gulf Today, Blue Pass demonstrates how FlutterFlow enables rapid development and successful deployment of complex applications, setting a new standard for maritime service management in the UAE.
